Dont have to have pins

All you need is a cable under the bonnet which is not going to break with force.
(I use a stainless braided wire with plastic sleeve so it dont scratch)
then connect the wire to anywhere under the bonnet that can take the force IF it were ever going to open when driving. Using a climbers hook like this:-
Clip'd onto the bonnet will stop it from opening up, you only need to make the wire long enough to get your hand in and unclip it.

This way if the lid was to come up when driving it would only open a few cm untill you slowed down.
It also stops you from getting dents in your bonnet where they dont fit the S2 very well.
The S1/Mk3 Escorts have a perfect hole in one skin of the bonnet, the S2 does not have this and clamps the two skins together causing it to bend if not done right.
