Newbies RS2000

ive found the jump from 15 to 17" rims def maked a pullaway difference.
you can just achieve more torque when not sacrificing it to larger heavier rims.only takes that small difference and you notice it ive found.

also using different size lenghts in the inlet pipe made a difference to mine.
i have the stainless inlet with shielded filter on the end and you notice more topend breathing,and when i had the filter clipped direct to throttle body,it improved low down torque loads but wasnt as breathy higher up.

car looks great Phil,good sensible mods your thinking thru too.
just dont bother with a superchip.there seriously unreliable for starters.

i would say the collins chip would offer about the same./personally id opt for just about anything that gives full mapping capabilities,and off the shelf pre-written maps just wont cut it.motorsport developments have an evo chip that they "live "map whilst driving the car.one drives,the other maps as it performs and finds the areas it needs in the ignition/fuel map.
im using a unichip and to be fair i cant fault it..
it was mapped and eliminated the flat spot areas,and reponded to the mods id made to the engine..not to mention that every engine is entirely different in its overal characteristics to another.
if you knew right now,that something like throttle bodies is for you,then step up to some decent standalone management like omex,dta or emerald.
the unichip will totally cope with anyting likethe mods your making,plus cams,headwork etc.

i went to a place near me called benchsound in stanford-le-hope essex.
had it fitted,loom patched in etc and mapped for about £450-480 all in.
we had an initial wiring prob but they patched in it correctly and we were away.
another option could be engine advantages.Paul Hills could install the unichip.there unichip dealers and hes a well known mapper having previously worked for mountune and with this outfit.
i heard of one guy with an RS2000 who went for a map with him,but actually wasnt that impressed.had to get a re-map elsewhere that transformed the car..so my next re-map will be with benchsound with Mario doing the work.
for an exmaple of thr realistic gains you might see wihtout the OTT bull that a lot of places try to tell you..
mine was 148bhp on the original engine..with the unichip it was 155bhp.
with the kent cams dropped in,and there quite tame,gasflowing to the head it was 166bhp.
i blew the sh*t out of that engine and had it fully rebuilt with kent cams still in there,gasflowing,lightening and balancing and oversize pistons,exhaust,filter which came to 171bhp and 157lbs torque.

theres a lot of pubtalk with tuning these lol,so be aware of what youmight get told o the way,expect less and be chuffed when its more.cant go wrong

Just another small Mod..

Arrived today, just gotta get around to fitting it





Quickshift linkage , not just as a mod but cos mine is cattle trucked and the quickshift is cheaper than the Ford one, makes sense to me lol

Just got to stop spending time and money on this car & concentrate on the S1..

All good with the quickshift, is blimmin superb..

Finally got round to finishing my 1/4 glasses off today, i was having problems with trying to get the outer caps onto the nuts couldnt get em on for love or money..

So took them all apart today and sorted it..

For future reference if it helps, i found that the best way is to spray the cap & nut with silicon spray or something similar.. then carefully press them together in a vice using a bit of cardboard or foam to protect the cap face.. took just under 5 mins to do all 6..





Also being a tart i sprayed in some cavity way through the hole behind as i have seen how these rust up on the older cars

Sorry.. Have not been on for a while, You know what it's like when you blink and somehow 2 or so months have passed by.

Well in the meantime the RS was treated to a well deserved polish and a general cleaning blitz of the interior and engine bay as they were absolutely filthy but wont bore everyone with shedloads of pics of a shiny car lol..


Recieved my Coolant and ancillery Roose Motorsport hoses and got em stuck on..



And with small clean up of the bay it started to look a bit more presentable!!


Then treated the car (well me really lol) to a spangly Auto Specialists spark plug cover..



All was great until it dawned on me that the RS bay requires at least one part that was red in colour and i noticed this void immediately..


So I snapped up a 2nd hand rocker cover, jetwashed off (lol) the previous owners blue paint and proceded to paint it red!!



After a bit off agressive jetwashing!!


A couple of layers of alloy bare metal etch primer..


And a ruined pic courtesy of my work camera which slaughters red colours!!


Took one with my camera phone to try to show up the red better as this is Ferrari Rosso Corsa red.. Nice..








All done, but the Night pic's dont really do it justice..

Tbh, i like it.. it has grown on me quite a bit, not being a lover of chrome/alloy etc it has changed my views of it..

Anyhow.. Sorry for the absence again, not had much chance to get on lately and hopefully the RS2K will take a backseat for now while i try to concentrate on getting my S1 ready for a bit of Diamond white..
